Make A Break For Blackrock
Blackrock Village is open once again for tourists this summer as a staycation destination on the Ireland’s Ancient East. The beautiful seaside village overlooking the Mourne Mountains and Cooley Peninsula is ideally located for families looking to base themselves in the Northeast for their summer break. With a range of scenic walks and activities across the Carlingford Peninsula to the North and a wealth of Heritage to the south in the Boyne Valley – Blackrock is ideally positioned to #makeabreakforit.
“Our village is perfectly positioned for staycation families who may have never considered the North East as location for a Summer Break before in Ireland” says Blackrock Tourism and Development Group Chair Aine Corcoran. “Unfortunately, in line with Government COVID19 guidelines our major events – The Blackrock St Patrick’s Day Festival, Blackrock Film Festival and The Blackrock Pumpkin Festival will have to be postponed this year but for those seeking wide open spaces, beautiful walks, water sports, superb restaurants, cafes and shops then Blackrock is the place for you.”
“As well as promoting Blackrock village as a destination across Ireland with help from Failte Ireland’s #makeabreakforit Campaign and Safety Charter – we will be redirecting our energies into our lifeboat restoration project for the R. Dudley Blake Lifeboat which we plan to restore as a tourist attraction. We will be launching a fundraising and communications campaign all about this shortly”. said Aine.
More information about the restoration campaign can be found on www.visitblackrock.ie and online donations are welcome.
